I was born and raised in Cape Town (won’t say when) and as soon as I had saved enough money I bolted, as most of us did back then, and landed up broke but excited in Earls Court, London.

Enjoyed the swinging sixties travelling round Europe and married a gorgeous Australian man. Stayed in London for five years, had a baby boy and then headed back to Cape Town where I had another boy.

Moved to Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) for a couple of years before settling in Brisbane, Australia. Four sons later and feeling the urge to move again we decided to emigrate to South Africa. Had another son. It felt great being back in Cape Town and also having help with the five boys. That’s also when my career as a professional Make Up Artist began. For the next 25 years I had a great time painting faces and travelling around the world doing shoots and commercials. My sons had a ball meeting all the glamorous models and enjoyed the whole hype, which is why I am sure three of them got involved, and still are, in the film industry.
I’ve settled in beautiful Hermanus, lots of time on my hands, and a friend of mine, who is a very good artist, gives me a canvas and paint brush and says “PAINT”. “Don’t be silly, I can’t even draw a cat!” “Everybody can paint”, she says, “just look at those faces you’ve been painting for years.”
After attending various art groups I have gained more knowledge and have discovered that my expression is through colour emerging through the texture of the oils.

My friends love my paintings… they have to, they’re my friends! They encourage me to approach galleries. Whoopee I have just made my first sale (Yellow Lily)
I guess my friend was right. I have found my passion.
